The first container train carrying peat passed through the Nizhneleninskoye railway checkpoint towards China
On 21 May 2026, the first container train loaded with peat passed through the Nizhneleninskoye railway border crossing en route to China.
The next train departure is scheduled for June of the current year, with plans to subsequently increase the volume of peat shipments to China.
Peat is in high demand in China, with demand steadily growing amid the expansion of the agricultural sector and the development of environmentally oriented technologies. Chinese farmers are actively using peat as a component of soil mixtures and substrates for greenhouse crop cultivation, and it is also in demand for the production of organic fertilisers.
Russian raw materials are highly valued in the Chinese market due to their superior quality.
